When designing and fabricating a combat robot, there are three main steps you must follow to reach the desired outcome: success. The first being, that you must have an idea of what you would want your bot to be. Sketch out what comes to mind, because it's on paper where you can be the most creative and even though some things may seem impossible to make, it's merely a facade. Secondly, you must learn to understand that prototyping is non-negotiable. Prototyping can help you grasp the scale of something while also letting you know some fatal mistakes you may have made that you would have never caught otherwise. Lastly, Get your parts produced or fabricate them yourself and put them together. This step is most likely the most complicated and sometimes infuriating because you need to communicate to people exactly how you want your part made, with patience and sympathy though, you can overcome it. With these three lessons I was able to compete at Norwalk Havoc but more importantly, meet people who I could connect with.
